Holidays in Umbria
There’s so much to do in this area: you can enjoy Italian art, culture, history, eating in some very fine restaurants and shopping everywhere from local markets to the city stores in Perugia.
Cooking Experience
If you enjoy Italian food, or if someone special is celebrating a birthday... why not try a cooking experience at Calagrana? Calagrana is an agriturismo with a superb restaurant, in the Niccone Valley. In a very small group you will learn how to make pasta and the lunch that you’ll prepare and eat together will be unforgettable!
Visit www.calagrana.com – under restaurant – look for Cooking Classes.
Water-sports
Several water-sports are available at Lago Trasimeno: sailing, canoeing, waterskiing, fishing and swimming. Or if you enjoy strolling by the water, eating a leisurely lunch in one of the numerous lake-side restaurants (our favourite is Da Settimio in San Feliciano) and riding the ferries to the islands (Maggiore, Minore and Polvese) the lake is the place to visit. Castiglione del Lago, a beautiful town, with an interesting history, is built on a lake-side promontory.
Walking and Cycling
Northern Umbria is paradise for people who enjoy walking and cycling. Copies of Martin Daykin’s little gem ‘Circular Walks’ are available for you to borrow as you get to know the local countryside. Visit www.tuscanyumbriawalks.com for more information.
Church in Assisi on Sundays
Every Sunday at 11.00 am you can attend a service (in English!) in the Oratorio di San Leonardo (at San Francescuccio), in Piazzetta Garibaldi, just off Via Fontabella / Via Christofani in Assisi. Brother Tom celebrates the Eucharist, ably assisted by Gordon (Churchwarden) and Christine Trigg and a small congregation of Anglicans.
