Location
Sopra and Terra are in a tiny borgo about a kilometre north of Montecastelli, on the road to Trestina (Via Petrecci) near Umbertide in Northern Umbria.
The borgo is surrounded by gentle wooded hills, fields and other small rural communities. The nearby Cesena to Roma superstrada (E45) means Assisi, Perugia, Florence and Rome are all very accessible.
The delightful little hill town of Montone, bustling Citta di Costello and Lake Trasimeno are all close by; as are Cortona, Sansepolcro and historic Gubbio.
Not far away is the single track railway serving the stations between Perugia and Sansepolcro – an added bonus for occasional train-spotters!
Umbria is often called “the green heart of Italy”: come here to see why. It’s a great place to unwind, relax and enjoy some peace.
Perugia Airport is about half an hour’s drive away. At present, Ryanair flies to Perugia 5 days a week (not Tuesdays & Saturdays) from Stansted. Forli (near Bologna), Ancona, Pisa and Rome are all within fairly easy reach. Car hire is available at them all.
Alternatively, Calais is approximately 925 miles away – a two day drive.
